Integration guide · SpamKill Transformer

Protect your Kit form from bots

In short: To stop spam on a Kit (formerly ConvertKit) form, copy its HTML embed code into the SpamKill Setup Wizard, delete Kit's ck.5.js script line, then paste the protected code on your page. SpamKill checks every signup without a CAPTCHA and real subscribers still reach Kit; afterwards, visitors see Kit's own success page. It takes about 10 minutes.

Bots are signing fake addresses up to your Kit list. Protect your Kit form with SpamKill and real subscribers keep landing in Kit. One limitation to know first: you delete one Kit script line from the code, and after signing up, visitors see Kit's own success page instead of a message in the form.

  • About 10 min
  • 6 steps

You should see: The code in the box now starts with <form action="https://app.kit.com/forms/.

Why delete it?

Kit's script sends the form in the background. SpamKill needs the browser to submit it normally, so with the script on the page the signup is lost and the form shows Failed to fetch.

Something not working?

Find what you're seeing.

The form says "Failed to fetch" and no subscriber appears in Kit

Kit's ck.5.js script is still on the page. Check the live page's code for ck.5.js, delete that script tag as in step 3, and test again.

A real visitor was told their email doesn't look right

SpamKill checks for missing @ symbols, extra spaces and common typos. The visitor can click Go back to the form, fix the address and send again.

There's no success message in the form

That's expected. Without Kit's script, the success message shows on Kit's own page instead.

My test subscriber says Unconfirmed

That's Kit's double opt-in: Kit emailed a confirmation link to the address. The subscriber becomes Confirmed once that link is clicked.

Changed your mind? Undo in under a minute

  1. Open the page in your website editor.
  2. Delete the SpamKill code and paste your original Kit form code back.
  3. Save and publish the page. Your form is back to how it was.
